Initially formed as a partnership between ALCOA, the world’s leading producer of alumina and aluminum, and W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company, Alcas eventually became a privately held corporation in 1982 after ALCOA acquired CASE in 1972.Utilizing the expertise of Case Cutlery in Bradford, Pa., ALCOA established Alcas Cutlery, combining the ‘AL’ from ALCOA and ‘CAS’ from Case.
